2023 Report Reveals Impressive 67% Growth in AEW Revenue
– ADVERTISMENT –

AEW President Tony Khan announced in 2022 that his wrestling company had earned about $100 million in revenue and that the promotion would cross that figure in the new year.

It turns out that the speculations were right as All Elite Wrestling has had a major boost in their revenue as 2023 draws to a close.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that AEW will finish 2023 grossing between $170-$175 million in revenue, which is a 67% increase from 2022.

The report further states that 2024 could be an even bigger year for AEW courtesy of the new television rights deal the promotion will acquire.

A big contribution for the current year could be the increased number of pay-per-view events (Wrestle Dream & Worlds End) and increased ticket prices for live events.

The gate from AEW All In 2023 at Wembley Stadium itself grossed over $10 million.

As for 2023, there are several grounds for AEW’s growth in revenue. AEW All In 2023 generated $16.5 million between the live gate, event, and merchandise, before including sponsorships.

The AEW Fight Forever video game also generated significant revenue although that won’t be as prominent heading into the new year.

The TV taping and house show tickets generated an estimated $18 million, merchandise earned $4 million, and live gates from the non-London pay-per-view events were around $6 million.

That’s a total estimate of $58.5 million, and the remaining $111.5 to $116.5 million would be from worldwide media rights, sponsorships, television ad splits, licensing, and video game revenue.

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has experienced a significant boost in revenue as 2023 comes to a close. AEW President Tony Khan announced in 2022 that the company had earned about $100 million in revenue and predicted that they would surpass that figure in the new year. It seems that his speculations were accurate.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW is projected to finish 2023 with a revenue of approximately $170-$175 million. This represents a remarkable 67% increase from the previous year. The report also suggests that 2024 could be an even bigger year for AEW due to a new television rights deal.

Several factors have contributed to AEW’s growth in revenue this year. One significant factor is the increased number of pay-per-view events, such as Wrestle Dream and Worlds End. Additionally, ticket prices for live events have been raised, further boosting revenue. The gate from AEW All In 2023 at Wembley Stadium alone grossed over $10 million.

AEW All In 2023 generated $16.5 million from the live gate, event, and merchandise sales, excluding sponsorships. The AEW Fight Forever video game also generated substantial revenue, although its impact will likely diminish in the new year.

TV taping and house show tickets accounted for an estimated $18 million in revenue, while merchandise sales earned $4 million. Live gates from non-London pay-per-view events reached approximately $6 million.

Taking all these factors into account, the total estimated revenue for AEW in 2023 is around $58.5 million. The remaining $111.5 to $116.5 million is expected to come from worldwide media rights, sponsorships, television ad splits, licensing, and video game revenue.

To put AEW’s revenue growth into perspective, let’s take a look at their earnings over the past four years:

– 2020: $64 million
– 2021: $86 million
– 2022: $100 million+
– 2023: $170-175 million

These numbers demonstrate the remarkable progress AEW has made in a relatively short period of time. With their increasing revenue and new television rights deal, AEW is poised for even greater success in the future.
